iPad Versions and Operating Systems

As of today, our minimum supported operating system is iPadOS 14 of which we recommend using an iPad manufactured & released in the last 4 years. Newer operating systems may not run as smoothly on older devices and Sine’s features such as FaceCheck and ID scanning perform measurably better on newer iPads (arguably the last 2 years).

Here are the iPad models that support iPadOS 14:

  • iPad Pro (6th generation, 2022)

  • iPad Pro (5th generation, 2021)

  • iPad Pro (4th generation, 2020)

  • iPad Pro (3rd generation, 2018)

  • iPad Pro (2nd generation, 2017)

  • iPad Pro (1st generation, 2016)

  • iPad Air (5th generation, 2021)

  • iPad Air (4th generation, 2020)

  • iPad Air (3rd generation, 2019)

  • iPad (10th generation, 2022)

  • iPad (9th generation, 2021)

  • iPad (8th generation, 2020)

  • iPad (7th generation, 2019)

  • iPad (6th generation, 2018)

  • iPad (5th generation, 2017)

  • iPad mini (5th generation, 2019)

The most recent iPad operating system is iPadOS 16. We do not support systems that are greater than 2-3 years older than the latest release. 'Supporting' means that our engineering team are testing against these versions. Bugs reported that are based and siloed to older operating systems are not prioritised to fix.

Recently announced: iPadOS 17 will be released June 23, 2023.
