Setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your account

Add an extra layer of protection to your Sine account with a one-time code at sign-in, on top of your password.

Written by Kirk Stanton

Passwords alone can be compromised through phishing, reuse across sites, or weak credentials, which is a bigger risk in environments managing compliance or sensitive operational data.

Once it's set up, Sine sends a one-time code to your registered email address every time you sign in, so a password on its own is no longer enough to access your account.

Accessing MFA settings

MFA is optional and available to all Sine users. You can set it up yourself from your profile page in the web dashboard, no admin setup required.

Note: MFA is available for Sine-managed accounts (signing in with an email and password). It doesn't apply to accounts using SAML SSO, since authentication in that case is handled entirely by your organisation's identity provider.

  1. Click your profile photo in the top right of the dashboard

  2. Select My Profile

  3. Scroll down to the Multi-factor authentication section

Setting up MFA

  1. In the Multi-factor authentication section, click Setup MFA

  2. A modal confirms you're setting up the code by email MFA method. Click Next

  3. Sine sends a 6-digit code to your registered email address

  4. Enter the code, then click Verify

Once verified, MFA is active on your account. The Multi-factor authentication section on your profile page now shows code by email as your configured method, with an option to remove it.

Signing in with MFA enabled

MFA applies to sign-in on the web dashboard and the Sine Pro mobile app on Android and iOS.

  1. Enter your email and password as usual

  2. Sine sends a 6-digit code to your registered email address

  3. Enter the code to complete sign-in

Note: If the code doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder or request a new one.

Turning off MFA

  1. Go to the Multi-factor authentication section on your profile page

  2. Click Remove

  3. Sine sends a verification code to your registered email address

  4. Enter the code to confirm removal

MFA is now disabled on your account.
