The Scan & Track feature allows you to tag physical assets with a unique QR code that can be automatically assigned to a visitor profile once they have checked in using Sine Pro. In order to use this feature, you need a QR code ID tag and a QR Reader provided by Sine. The QR code ID tags are provided as either a key ring or a card. To order these products, please contact us by using the chat bubble in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

Installing the QR Reader

To install the QR Reader, simply plug it into a free USB port on your computer and you are done. No driver installation, no installation wizard, just plug and play!

Assign a QR code ID

To assign a QR code ID to a visitor:

  1. Ensure that the Dashboard is selected by clicking the Activity tab on the left side of the screen.

2. Ensure that the visitor is checked in by looking at the Checked In sub-section on the Activity Feed.

3. Click on the checked in visitor to bring up the Pass Entry for the visitor and click inside the Add Notes box.

4. Scan the QR code by waving it in front of the QR Reader.

5. The QR code’s ID will be entered automatically into the visitor’s Notes.

Check-Out an Asset

To Check-out the asset:

  1. Ensure that the Dashboard is selected by clicking the Activity tab on the left side of the screen.

2. Scan the QR code by waving it in front of the QR Reader.

3. The visitor who was assigned the asset will be automatically checked out if they are currently checked in.

If the asset has already been checked out, a warning message will display (shown below):

Maintaining an Asset Register

To keep track of which QR code is tied to which asset, Sine recommends maintaining an Asset Register. This allows users to ensure that they can easily find out which bit of hardware is being represented by the QR code. To make it even easier to set up, you can use the scanner to scan the QR code directly into the Register, you don’t have to type it in manually using the keyboard. Please see this document for an example of an Asset Register.
