Steps for enabling kiosk mode differ depending if you are using the App Store or MDM (Mobile Device Management)/Sine MDM to download the SinePoint Pro app to your device.

With MDM, kiosk mode is enabled for all customers automatically and offers a more seamless experience.

On MDM/Sine MDM kiosk mode is automatically enabled 15 minutes after linking the display with a site or opening the app after kiosk mode was disabled. Kiosk mode can be turned off temporarily by going into SinePoint Pro settings via the settings cog icon in the app.

Kiosk mode is automatically re-enabled to ensure your kiosk is ready for each new visitor even if you forget to toggle it back on.

If you have a custom use case for your check-in iPad, where the device is not always used for only kiosk based check-in.

Please contact our support team and ask to opt out of kiosk mode and provide the serial number for each device.

App Store

This method uses iOS' guided access feature to lock the device into the SinePoint Pro App

  • Choose Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock > Never.

  • Choose Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > On.

  • Choose Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Display Auto Lock > Never.

  • Choose Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Passcode Settings > Set Guided Access Passcode > enter your chosen passcode.

(Make sure the rest of your team knows the passcode in case they need to unlock the screen in your absence)

  1. Launch the Sine Point Pro app.

  2. Choose: Ok for Sine Point Pro to access the camera and Allow for Sine Point Pro to send notifications.

  3. Login into your Sine Account using your email address and password and Select your Site.

  4. Setup printing using the printer setup guide.

  5. Triple-click the Home Button or if you have an iPad Pro triple-click the lock button to enable Guided

Access. This prevents the Sine Point Pro app from being closed. To disable Guided Access at any time, triple-click the button again and enter your passcode. Remember to re-enable it later

If you are experiencing issues with the screen brightness automatically changing while your iPad is inside the stand/holder - you can disable automatic brightness:

  • Choose Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Auto-Brightness: Off

MDM

Sine Kiosk mode (MDM) was introduced in SinePoint Pro version 2.6.0 (March 2025)

Ensure your app is updated to 2.6.0 or newer to use this feature.

The Kiosk Mode settings are located within SinePoint Pro’s settings - accessible via settings cog icon in the app. You'll need your Display Settings Code to access this, which you can reset and retrieve from the Sine Dashboard displays tab.

  • A toggle switch in the advanced tab enables or disables Kiosk Mode. The switch is only visible for devices managed by an MDM.

  • A timer indicator will show the remaining time before automatic activation if Kiosk Mode is temporarily disabled.

Setup Kiosk Mode for MDM administrators

Kiosk mode can be setup by adding an app managed configuration, single app lock profile and custom attribute inside the MDM service. Please note these instructions will vary slightly depending on the MDM service you are using.

SinePoint Pro App bundle ID: co.sine.sinepoint-ios

  1. Add an app managed configuration for the SinePoint Pro App with the following values:

    Key: kiosk_mode

    Value Type: String

    Value: {{kiosk_mode}}

  2. Create a custom attribute inside your MDM service:

    Name: kiosk_mode

    Value: 0

Creating a custom attribute with a value of 0, ensures that kiosk mode is disabled by default until optioned on.

  3. Create a Single App Lock profile to assign to a group/device:

Lock mode: Autonomous Single App Mode (ASAM)

    Permitted app identifiers: co.sine.sinepoint-ios

  4. Create a new group or edit an existing one in your MDM service to include:
The new Single App Lock profile you created in step 3

Assign the custom attribute: kiosk_mode a value of 1 for this group

This will enable kiosk mode on all devices which are assigned to this group

Please note: We do not recommend changing the kiosk_mode custom attribute value at device level after the attribute is defined, the group assignment method is more performant.
