The Microsoft Teams integration allows you to streamline Sine notifications. Receive updates when someone checks in or out, and quickly accept or reject visitors from the web dashboard.

To get set up with Teams, there are two key steps:

  1. Download and install the Sine app from the Teams Store

  2. Set up the Teams integration within the Sine web dashboard

Download and install the Sine app from the Teams Store

Within Teams, select Apps from the navigation bar, and then, from the apps search bar, search for 'Sine'.

Once you have located the Sine app, from the dropdown menu select Add to a team to install. You will then be asked to select the team you would like to send notifications to.

After setup is complete, you will receive a test notification in the channel that says 'Thank you', to confirm the install is successful.

Note: If you are unable to find Sine in the app store, it is likely your Teams instance is managed by your organisation's IT department, with restrictions on the apps that can be added. In this situation, we advise contacting your IT department to arrange access to the Sine app.

Sine integration setup

From the web dashboard, navigate to Sites and then select Settings for the site you are setting up.

Select Integrations from the site settings side-menu, and then click Microsoft Teams. You will then see the option Add to Microsoft Teams. Select this, and then log in to your Microsoft Teams account.

After the login is confirmed, you will be taken to the Sine settings for the integration.

Customise the integration settings to suit your operations. You can read a full explanation of each setting below:

Select Microsoft Team

This is the team that you would like messages to appear in. Note, you will need to be a member of a team to select it for the integration.

Channel Name

Enter the name of the channel you'd like your notifications to be sent to. This field is case sensitive and must exactly match the name of the channel as it appears in Microsoft Teams.

Show Detailed Information

This allows you to toggle between detailed or brief notifications, depending don't the information that is important for your team to see.

Visitor Types

Here you can select the visitor types that should trigger a Teams notification. For example, you may want to Visitors and Contractors to trigger a message to the channel, but not every time a Staff member checks in.

Events

Select the events that should trigger a notification. These can be set to any combination of the following:

Check-in Approval Pending
This event triggers when a guest has checked in but is waiting for host approval.

Check-in Success
This event triggers after a guest has completed check-in and their pass is active.

Check-out Success
This event triggers after a guest has completed check-out and their pass is expired.

Check-out Rejected
This event triggers after a guest has been rejected.

Host Notification

None: No Host notification or listing

Tag: This posts all Microsoft Teams notifications to a common channel, as defined in the setup. If the Host email address matches an email address in your Microsoft Teams team, it will tag the user with an "@mention". (This will fall back to listing the Host Name in the channel/user you listed when setting up the integration if there is no associated email in Microsoft Teams).

Message: This posts Microsoft Teams notifications directly to your hosts' private Microsoft Teams channels. If the Host email address matches an email address in your Microsoft Teams team, it will direct message that account to alert them directly. (This will fall back to posting to the channel/user you listed when setting up the integration if there is no associated email in Microsoft Teams).

Enable/Disable your integration

The final and most important step. Ensure that you have enabled your integration before selecting 'Save' to complete the process.

How to remove the Sine app from a Teams channel

If you need to change the channel receiving notifications, you might also remove the Sine app from that channel. This can be achieved by following the steps below:

  1. In Teams, enter the channel the Sine bot's in.

  2. Select the ellipse (...) adjacent to the channel, and choose Manage team.

  3. Select the Apps tab, then look for the Sine App and delete it.

The Sine bot is now removed from the channel.
