Setup Sine Active Directory Sync plugin

This article describes how to setup the Sine Active Directory Sync plugin for your organisation or site.

Before you start

  1. Request your Sine Success Manager or Sine System Administrator to enable the Sine Active Directory plugin for your Team or Organisation.

    Note: The availability of Sine Active Directory Sync plugin depends on your subscription. Contact your Success Manager or Sine Support for more details.

  2. Create the required Host Groups in Sine Pro Dashboard. The synchronisation process will automatically import host profiles from Microsoft Azure AD to these Host Groups. For more details see Host Set-Up.


    Warning: Do not add any host profiles to the Host Groups as these will be overwritten at the time of the synchronisation.


Instructions

Here is an overview of the steps you need to carry out.

  1. Authorise Sine to access your Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD) account

  2. Map Sine Host Groups with Microsoft AAD.
    Note: The Group Mapping section is enabled once you have successfully authorised Sine access to your Microsoft AAD groups.

  3. Save and activate configuration.

Detailed instructions

Step 1: Authorise Sine access to Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD)

Note: This task needs to be carried only once

  1. Log in to Sine Core, using your Sine Team Admin credentials.

  2. Select the Admin Dashboard link. Contact Sine Support, if you do not see this link.

  3. Select the Configure Plugin button.

  4. Link your Microsoft AAD account to Sine.

Note: Depending on your access level to Microsoft AAD, you will be asked a series of questions and prompts. See the following decision table.

If your access level is...

Then follow these steps...

Sine Team Admin and

Microsoft AAD administrator

4.1 Select Sign in with Microsoft link.


4.2 Select the Accept button to grant consent for Sine to read user profiles from AAD. For details see: Grant consent to setup Sine AD Sync plugin.


4.3 You are redirected back to the plugins page, to complete the mapping.

Sine Team Admin with no Microsoft AAD administrator privileges.


4.1 Select Sign in with Microsoft link.

4.2 If you do not hold the relevant administration rights, you are presented the Need Admin Approval dialogue window. Select Return to the application link.

4.3 Provide the consent link to a Microsoft AAD administrator.

4.4 Microsoft AAD administrator selects Accept and grants consent. For details see: Grant consent to setup Sine AD Sync plugin.

4.5 As a Sine Team administrator, re-login to the Plugins page and sign in using your Microsoft AAD account.

4.6 You are redirected back to the plugins page, to complete the mapping.

Step 2: Map Sine Host Groups with Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD)

  1. Enter a configuration Name.

  2. In the Group Mapping section:

    1. Search and select a Microsoft AAD group, against the required Host Group.
      Note: You can assign one or more Microsoft AAD groups to a Sine Host Group.

    2. If required, select the toggle button Include Nested Groups. This is required if the Microsoft AAD group has sub-groups - if selected, members of the parent group and all sub-groups will be synced to the Sine Host Group.

Step 3: Save and activate configuration

  1. Select Activate Plugin button, to save and schedule the synchronsation process.

  2. A confirmation message is displayed.

  3. Select Activate Plugin to proceed.
